This week our group has done lots of research to gain information to help us finalize our solution to educate students about recycling. We decided that we are going to create kits that we can distribute to different classrooms to inform and encourage kids about recycling. We want to include a velcro game where the students can practice sorting trash into different groups, posters for the room about a recycling hero, art project ideas that include recycled materials, flyers or posters to bring for their families, and challenges for the teacher(s) to institute in the classroom.
Our group has researched other recycling solutions in different communities and found some very interesting and inspiring solutions. One solution we found was called Wecyclers a recycling system created by Billikiss Adebiyi Abiola, where people can go to different polluted areas on bikes and pick up trash. They then turn it in for points that they can use to buy products for their families. Another solution we discovered was the How2Recycle labeling system that clearly labels products with recycling instructions.
In our upcoming days we will be focusing on gathering our final needed research to help us further create our solution and we will be receiving feedback from respected adults. But we are not done yet! We still have a few more steps to climb!
